Plexiglass Expertise and Cutting in the PACA Region: The Choice of True Bespoke

Plexiglass Expertise and Cutting in the PACA Region: The Choice of True Bespoke
The PACA region, from Monaco to Saint-Tropez, demands an impeccable level of finish, whether for luxury yachting or interior architecture. At Plexi Azur, we transform plexiglass (cast PMMA) with surgical precision to meet the highest standards.
The custom boat windshield specialist
Yachting is at the heart of our expertise. Replacing a plexiglass boat windshield is not something to improvise. Between mechanical constraints and salt erosion, we manufacture marine glazing, portholes and deflectors able to withstand the most extreme marine conditions. Thanks to our presence between Nice and Monaco, we respond quickly to protect the safety and aesthetics of your vessel.
From bespoke cutting to luxury furniture
Beyond yachting, our workshop masters custom plexiglass cutting in Nice. Whether you are a designer in Cannes or an interior decorator in Monaco, we create exceptional plexiglass furniture. Our secret? Invisible UV bonding, a technique that joins pieces without any trace, offering total transparency, greater than crystal.

About
Plexiglass, or polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), is no longer reserved for industrial display cases alone. Today it takes pride of place in our interiors as minimalist furniture. Its crystal-clear transparency offers an unmatched sense of lightness, able to turn a cluttered room into an airy, modern space.
But how do you go from a rigid sheet to a console with flowing curves? Here are the secrets behind the artisanal crafting of this fascinating material.
Why choose Plexiglass for your furniture?
Unlike glass, plexiglass is:
-
Lighter: Easy to move around to suit your décor.
-
Stronger: It does not shatter on impact.
-
More transparent: It lets through up to 92% of light, more than standard glass.
The Artisanal Manufacturing Process
Making a coffee table or a console calls for precision and specific equipment. Here are the key steps followed by our artisans:
1. Design and Choosing the Thickness
For a coffee table or console, the structure must bear weight without bending. Sheets from 15mm to 40mm thick are generally used. The design can be minimalist (a simple "bridge") or more complex with invisible joins.
2. Cutting: Laser or Mechanical Precision
The sheet is cut to the exact dimensions. Using a laser gives clean edges, but for thick artisanal pieces we often prefer mechanical cutting followed by rigorous sanding to prepare the finishing.
3. Thermoforming: The Magic of Bending
This is where craftsmanship truly comes into its own. To create the legs of a console with no visible joins:
-
A precise area of the sheet is heated to around 150°C using a heating element.
-
Once softened, the plexiglass is gently bent over a jig.
-
It must then cool slowly to set its new shape without creating internal stresses.

4. Polishing: The Pursuit of Brilliance
Once the shape is achieved, the edges are matte. To restore crystal transparency, the artisan polishes in stages:
-
Sanding with progressively finer grit.
-
Buffing with a cotton wheel and polishing compound.
-
Flame finishing for a mirror shine on the edges.
Caring for Your Plexiglass Furniture
Plexiglass is beautiful but calls for a gentle touch. To keep its shine:
-
Avoid alcohol-based products: They can cause micro-cracks (crazing). Use soapy water or a specific antistatic cleaner.
-
Use a microfibre cloth: To avoid micro-scratches.
-
Renovation polishing: If scratches appear over time, they can be removed with a gentle polishing product.
A plexiglass coffee table or console is far more than a piece of furniture: it is a luminous sculpture. Whether you choose a single-piece thermoformed model or an assembled piece, the artisanal approach guarantees a finish that mass industry cannot match.
